Hello and welcome to my digital domain! I’m a Lead Software Engineer with a rich tapestry of experiences that form the backdrop of my tech career. My professional journey has seen me transform from a retail manager, car builder, and apprentice electrician into a tech wizard who orchestrates the symphony of seamless front-end user interfaces and robust back-end systems.

In the tech arena, I’ve honed my craft across the full spectrum of software development. I find joy in turning complex problems into elegantly coded solutions and take pride in leading teams to do the same. My career is a testament to my love for coding and a reflection of my belief in continuous growth and learning. From engineering over 100 client-centric applications to slashing data processing times by 85%, I’ve not just coded software; I’ve crafted pathways to efficiency.

My journey through various leadership roles has been fueled by a passion for mentorship and a dedication to collaborative success. Whether it’s through streamlining software development lifecycles or driving process improvements that have significantly reduced technical debt, my approach has always been about creating impact - both in the products I help build and in the teams I am privileged to lead.

Above all, I am a firm believer in the transformative power of technology and the magic that happens when diverse minds come together to create something extraordinary. If my story resonates with you or you’re curious about the nuances of tech craftsmanship, let's connect. I'm always open to sharing insights or collaborating on new ventures that push technological boundaries.

Personally, I'm much much more than all work. I'm an avid gamer (I primarily play PC these days) and am hopelessly addicted to great stories and spectacle - I watch a lot of movies and tv!. I grew up reading and aging with Harry Potter, so I have a massive soft spot in my heart for that story in particular - I even proposed to my beautiful wife right in front of Hogwarts Castle at Universal Orlando! I also craft as often as time will afford me, and love creating unique home decorations, restoring/finishing old furniture, and even building new furniture from scratch. I draw, (try to) paint, and dabble with watercolors when I can! My wife and I share our crafting journeys on Instagram (lookup Dev-Craft some time!) when we arent too busy cheering on the Preds! I cant get enough of hockey these days - it is perhaps my favorite hobby that my wife introduced me to!

You are as likely to find me sitting in front of our Cricut machine as you are to find me and a group of friends in front of various board games. I love to be around people, and I love making them laugh! I try to be the beacon of humor that everyone needs at different times, and I get most of my energy from socializing (whether online or in person).

Those are my hobbies, but my absolute favorite part of life is being married to my AMAZING wife Kayla. She's a fellow dev, and my rock in this world. We do most things in life together (even some gaming!) and I feel too lucky to be living this life. If you want to share with me about any of these hobbies, life with a fellow dev (or just want to chat), connect with me through your preferred way below!

Portfiolio

transfigure.io

React / Passion Project

transfigure.io

Transfigure.io is my canvas where creativity meets CSS, inspired by the ingenuity of Muhammad Irshad on his Online Tutorials YouTube channel. This webapp is full of slick UI elements that can be customized, and the code is provided right to the user. It isn’t just a showcase; it's an invitation to experiment. I encourage you to take these snippets of code, tweak them, transform them, and let them inspire your own designs. Whether you’re a student seeking to understand the nuances of CSS, or a developer in need of a splash of creativity for your website, Transfigure.io is for you. Dive into the diagrams below to discover how you can integrate these styles into your work and elevate your web presence with a touch of Transfigure magic.

transfigure.io is built using react and its own custom styles, and is very much still a work in progress - but functioning and deployed using github pages!

Pantry Perfect

React / Front-End Capstone

Pantry Perfect

An application that allows a user to track the quantity of any groceries they choose, create recipes they commonly cook, link the ingredients to their tracked items, and build a grocery list on the fly.

Built in React.js and utilizing a heavily edited Semantic-UI for React style library throughout, the application also makes use of Charts.js for React and Tilt.js for React for statistics. User data is populated from a JSON file hosted off of a JSON Server. Both the application and the server were hosted on Heroku. These have since expired, and a new deployment on a different hosting platform is in the works.

Use By

React / Nash Hack Weekathon Winner

Use By

Use By is a collaborative project that was born out of the Nash Hack Weekathon! Originally pitched by Angie Renfro, I was given the opportunity to be the team lead for the project with Angie at the helm of UI/UX control. I led the team through the 48 hour build window to deliver a MVP prototype for an application that allows a user to track the expiration dates of common foods and see their money waste when food gets thrown out.

Use By is built in React.js and utilizes basic CSS for media query and Semantic UI for React. A simple JSON file with a flat datastructure is hosted off of a JSON server. Use-By has since migrated into new ownership, as the original idea owner for it has started a company to take this prototype to product. The deployed site and its code are both gone with the migration.

NutShell

React / Front-End Group Project

NutShell

Nutshell is a collaborative week long group project from Nashville Software School to build a prototype social media web application that allows a user to create, edit, and delete articles, events, and tasks, as well as feature a intra-network chat room style messaging system and the ability to add other users as friends and see their page!

Nutshell was built in React.js and utilized two style libraries, Bloomer and ReactStrap (also extensive CSS) to visualize the code. The goal was to engage an agile approach to coordinate tasks amongst a 4 person team and utilize a flat JSON datastructure for demonstration purposes. My responsibilities included the Login, User Profile, Events, and Friends section of the application.

Bangazon

C#/.NET / Back-End Group Project

Bangazon!

Bangazon is a collaborative week long group project from Nashville Software School to build a prototype e-commerce web application that allows a user to create product listings, utilize search features for them, and actually complete a purchase experience via a shopping cart!

Bangazon was built in C#/ASP.NET MVC WebApp and utilized the ORM Entity Framework primarily, with Identity for authentication and authorization of Users. A SQL Server database is used for the project. The goal was to follow SCRUM methodology to coordinate tickets amongst a 4 person team to accomplish our Sprint projection. My responsibilities included the Initializing the database with starter data, building the Search Bar, building the Product Category index view, Shopping Cart item removal, and total order cancellation.

Hogwarts Run Club Social Platform

C#/.NET / Back-End Final Capstone

Hogwarts Run Club Social Platform

My FInal Capstone for NSS that is in the planning stages before buildout!

Hogwarts Run Club is a non-profit organization that hosts "virtual" runs for its members to participate in. Nearly 70,000 members have raised well over 2.5 million dollars to benefit numerous charities by running for over 8 million miles! Insane stats aside, The members have no official social platform for communicating about the events and their fitness goals. My hope for this app is to give the members a place to build a more connected online community away from all of the facebook messenger groups they currently live in, and allow them to showcase what matters most to them to the people they care about. All of this, with a swish and flick of magic, all wrapped into a nice Potter themed presentation! Check back soon for the completed project and repo!
